  1. A night in the Karamoja kraal was unforgettable

We did some activities with Kara-tunga, while staying at the guesthouse. The guesthouse has a cosy feeling, the room is very nice and the food is among the best I had in Uganda! I would really recommend the guesthouse and spending a night in the kraal was an unforgettable experience!

  4. Amazing Karamoja Trip, So Pure and Real

The guesthouse Kara-Tunga was really nice and clean. The staff was friendly and kind. It directly felt like a home.

Wow what an amazing experience we had! With a group we did a mountain hike and visited the Kraal. We hiked to the top of the mountain and stayed there for a night. It was a tough walk, but the guides were really supportive. There we celebrated new year. How cool is that! The day after we went back to the guesthouse. The guides were really nice and we had a lot of fun together.

We visited the Kraal in the evening and spend the night there. It was like we were watching TV. We sang songs and danced with them. It was so pure and real. It was amazingly beautiful.

Thanks for this experience! We’ll never forget these special days!

  5. Very special Karamoja Trip

TripAdvisor Review: Discovering some parts of the Karamoja district together with Kara Tunga was an unforgettable experience. Thanks to our awesome guides we were able to make the most out of our time in Moroto and the surrounding areas. And thanks to all the people at the Kara Tunga Guesthouse we always had a lovely “homebase” ahead of each activity.

Arriving after a long bus ride we got picked up by our guide from the bus station, had a refreshing shower and could enjoy the delicious food at the Kara Tunga Guesthouse while planning the following two days.
Day one started early with a yummy breakfast before heading to Mt. Moroto. Due to potential rain showers (luckily for the local agriculture) we decided to do a shorter hike without camping at the top of the mountain. We climbed up to St. Lorenz from where we had a breathtaking view. Back at the guesthouse and after some time for relaxation we headed to a Kraal in the savanna and met amazing Karamojong people. At their campfire we shared interesting life experiences and stories before sleeping outside under the stars.
On day two after waking up to a stunning sunrise we said goodbye to our new friends and went back to the Kara Tunga Guesthouse for showers (always nice and neat), breakfast and some more time to chill out and soak in the atmosphere. During the noon time we went for a bike ride through Moroto town, had lunch and packed our backpacks for going to a Karamojong village. There we met lots of children and again amazing people who were happy to share their life experiences and daily activities with us what we appreciated very much. After spending the night in the village we had to get up very early to catch the bus for going back.

Alakara Noi Noi Noi! For this very special experience and all the new things I have learnt!

  6. A nice place to visit Karamojo on your way to or from Kidepo

We camped at Kara-Tunga in September 2016 on our way from Sipi to Kidepo. Although we planned to stay for one night, we decided to stay for two. We met some nice people, we visited a Karamajong village with a guid from the guesthouse. The personnel was friendly and helpful and the food was good.

  7. The best experience in Uganda!

My experience with Kara-Tunga has been great! The Guesthouse is very nice, comfortable and there is a super-good cook. The staff is amazing, very fun and always avaiable for both helping and telling you the stories and the traditions of this beautiful region! I strongly recommend the visit to the Kraal because it is one of the most impressive and strong experience I have ever had. I cannot find the right words to describe the emotion of sitting in front of the fire together with people of a so different and interestng culture!
